Graceful shade plants with feathery panicles of creamy white flowers covering the ends of arching stems. may be grown in shady borders or in moist areas near streams or ponds.
A very nice choice for home landscaping in shaded settings. It will spread by rhizomes, but not aggressively enough to ever be invasive. It could be used as a taller ground cover as multiple arching stems 1-2' long will come from a single parent plant.

We call this widely-distributed plant Solomon's Plume, but it is equally known as Maianthemum racemosum, False Solomon's Seal, or False Spikenard. It is most often found in moist, rich woodlands and woodland edges, but can tolerate full sun. Its blooms actually will grow larger with more light. A cluster of star-shaped white flowers appear mid-late spring and attractive red berries, sometimes speckled brown or purple, will follow for fall interest.
This shade-loving perennial produces plumes of creamy white blossoms in spring, followed by mottled yellowish-green berries that turn to deep red. The fragrant, ivory white blossoms occur on the ends of arching branches, distinguishing them from true Solomon's seal ( Polygonatum ). The plant grows to 3 feet high and 2 feet wide.
Noteworthy Characteristics: These plants from North America and Mexico have distinctively veined leaves. Group them in woodland beds, shady borders, and native plantings.
Care: Provide rich, humusy, moist but well-drained soil in part or full shade.
Propagation: Sow seed in a cold frame; divide in spring.

Germination Instructions
Best sown directly in the ground in autumn for spring germination. The seed can be very slow to germinate, often taking 18 months or longer.
Sow seeds at any time covering them with compost or grit 5mm deep, keeping the seed pot in a cool, well-lit spot outdoors. Artificial heat is not needed and can prevent germination so be very patient as many species will only germinate in the spring after chilling or freezing in the moist seed tray in the winter. Grow on individual seedlings in small pots until of sufficient size to be potted on or planted out into the open ground

If starting germination indoors follow the germination instructions below.
Stratification: Seed requires alternate periods of cold-warm-cold stratification.
Soak seeds in water for 24 hours.
Place seeds in sandwich bag(s), with a bit of damp sand or vermiculite to keep moist.
Keep at room temperature for about 60 days. Occasionally lightly spray water to keep seeds and sand moist.
Place the bag(s) with seeds in refrigerator at 3° C (37° F) to 5° C (41° F) for about 60 to 90 days.

Place the bag(s) with seeds in refrigerator at 3° C (37° F) to 5° C (41° F) for about 60 to 90 days.
After the required time take the seeds out of the refrigerator and sow the seeds in pots 1/4 inch deep and cover lightly.
Water gently so as not to wash away the seeds. Keep soil moist but not wet. Seeds can take up to two years or more to germinate, so be patient and do not throw away any seed that hasn’t sprouted yet Select your desired size and color from the available option
