Species: Annuum | Origin: Unknown | Heat: Hot
90 days. Capsicum annuum. Plant produces good yields of small 1" long by ¼" wide hot peppers. Peppers turn from purple (almost black) to red when mature. Plant has dark purple stems, and dark purple leaves that are almost black, and violet flowers. Excellent for spicy dishes and vinegars. Suitable for containers. Organic.
Tasty, hot and elegant 'Royal Black' makes a beautiful backdrop in any flower bed. The foliage and stems of this 3ft plant are dark-purple, almost black and have a strong oriental quality with an occasional variegated growing tip of green, purple, and creamy white. The undersides of the leaves are green with purple venation. The bullet shaped 1 1/2in long by 1/2 in wide pods start off upright before gravity takes it course. They are initially a very dark purple/black before ripening to red approximately 90 days after transplanting. When ripe they add a further accent to this stunning plant, appearing like crown jewels on a botanical tapestry of deep purple. ## VERY UNUSUAL AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ##.

Peppers often like to take their sweet time germinating. They can be up in a week, and some will take almost a month. Even with paper towel germination testing, they can take long. I’m not sure why, but it is a normal occurrence. Also, remember they like heat to germinate so make sure you have a heating mat or something to keep the soil warm.
Hot pepper varieties come from tropical humid regions . The temperature, moisture, and air circulation all play a role in growing plants from seeds. Too little heat, too much moisture, and lack of air circulation will cause poor results. Do not use jiffy peat pots, plugs, or potting soil as the soil becomes too dry or too wet, which can lead to disease and fungus. We have experienced disease and low germination when using these types of products. Use Organic Seed Starting Material for best germination results.

Peppers do very well grown in pots.
