Approximately 4,500 per oz - Cosmos (Cosmos Bipinnatus Seashell) -

This flowers of this variety have tubular petals and come in a mix of crimson, rose, pink and white. Suitable for cutting, beds and borders, and the pollinator garden.

Start Cosmos seeds directly outdoors in the spring and enjoy! No flower adds more enchantment to the flower garden than Cosmos Bipinnatus Purity! These tall annuals with fine, lacy, fern-like foliage and their large pure white blooms create a lovely back-drop for the entire garden. They are very easy to grow from Cosmos flower seed, and a landscape can easily be transformed into a lovely display of soft colors. The extra-large, long-lasting white blooms are excellent cut flowers as well. Cut them early in the morning just as the petals begin to unfold. The Cosmos flower will continue to open in the vase and last for 7 - 10 days.

Originally, Cosmos came from wildflowers, and are native to our own southwest and more commonly, Mexico, and they are also called Mexican Aster. Cosmos Mexican Aster do well in hot, desert type areas, but they easily adapt to many conditions and thrive. They will provide the best blooms with moderate amounts of water. Do not over fertilize Cosmos as this will decrease the amount of blooms. Butterflies and bees are very attracted to Cosmos blooms. They also will self-sow their own Cosmos flower seeds for a new display next season.

Directly sow Cosmos Bipinnatus Purity seeds into prepared seed beds after danger of frost has passed. Sow the flower seeds in rows, 18 inches apart. Sow 6 seeds per foot. Lightly cover Cosmos seeds with 1/16 inch of soil. Keep flower seeds moist. Thin to strongest plant 12 inches apart. Or, if you're not into measurements, Cosmos seeds can be scattered onto the prepared soil. Lightly rake the soil over the Cosmos seeds at a depth of 1/16 inch. Keep the Cosmos flower seed moist until germination. Cosmos Mexican Aster perform well even when crowded
